Today we celebrate in gratitude for the long, radiant life of Adele Eloina Torres, who passed away in Pasadena, CA on October 6th, 2025. She was the beloved widow of Raul V Torres, and the matriarch of the Salazar family. Adele's story is one of quiet strengths. She learned early in life that love is not only a feeling but a practice, something you show day after day in how you listen, how you work, and how you stand beside your people. Those who knew her remember a woman who moved through the world with dignity, who believed that every ordinary day had something worth blessing. She and Raul built a humble home where faith and effort walked hand in hand. That spirit lives in their daughter Monica. Her chosen grandchildren Jose, Eduardo, Brisa, Hailey, Abbie, and Julian each was a reason for her eyes to shine.
To her grandchildren, you carry her legacy each time you choose patience over hurry, kindness over convenience, truth over ease. To Monica, may you remember that grief is love's echo, and that echoes are proof the voice was real and strong, loving and worth more than gold. If you asked Adele what mattered most, she might have pointed to the small things such as the meal shared with family, the story told for the 10th time because a child still loved it, the prayer whispered, and the expression of love said out loud in every round table birthday celebration. So many of the memories come from sharing a meal with family, baking for the holidays, making tamales or just hanging out in the kitchen enjoying music, a beer and company.
We will miss Adele's presence, the way she loved us, the way she shared her advice and her silence without judgement. We give thanks that her life was full, and for the example she set, the love she expressed, and the faith she passed on. Her loving daughter Monica and her grandchildren will carry her light forward.
